Planetkill signings at GW Reading & GW Brent Cross

Saturday 28th June - GW Reading

The Reading storefront

The Games Workshop in the aptly named city of Reading is a great store for Black Library stuff. They had some of the strongest sales of Relentless in the country, even amongst other places which had had signings. So when Planetkill was released, Richard gave the manager there a call and asked if it would be okay for him to drop by.

The man from Del Monte, he say yes!

Richard had a great day there, chatting with staff and customers; so much so, his signing hour overran by an hour and a half! The highlight of the day was an instore painting competition and Richard was thrilled to be allow to vote on some of the winners. The quality of some of the entries was extremely high, and a great testament to the hobby community being built around the Reading store.

Saturday 5th July - GW Brent Cross open day

GW Brent Cross... Richard's nemesis from the 9 stores, 8 hours challenge... it was time to get like the Grey Knights and exorcise those daemons!

Richard's return visit to Fortress BX went a lot smoother than the first. The manager of GW BX had made special arrangements to have an open day of sorts; he'd arranged with the BX's operators to have a few tables out in one of the main thoroughfares of the centre, showing off intro games, the basics of the hobby and helping draw attention to the GW store just around the corner. This and the instore painting competition arranged by the manager in Reading are just a couple of examples of the enormous individual effort that local managers and their staff put into their stores, their customers and the hobby itself.

Despite all the stuff that had to be done for the open day, the BX staffers didn't hesitate to welcome Richard along, putting out an impressive display of the two novels, organising a 'Mortal Fuel' themed 40K game, and even treating Richard to a 40K intro game of his very own (in which his genestealers appeared more interested in using their claws as castanets rather than plunging them into the marine sergeant carving them to pieces!)
The staffers in Brent Cross really went above and beyond with their Planetkill / Relentless display
